Some can say that it could be Barack Obama’s biggest crowd gathering and you may say that it’s just a traditional Presidential meet and greet. But for the citizens of Fort Myers, Florida they get to have a glimpse of newly elected President Barack Obama this coming Tuesday, February 10, 2009. From the dozen or so chairs and blankets, to the growing line of local residents are already set up for the anticipation of the arrival of the President for a local town hall meeting a couple days ahead of schedule. The people in line would receive tickets for the meeting, most of which are gladly to accept to see their President Barack Obama.

President Obama is in town for a meeting to sell his stimulus plan to the American public, citizens of Fort Myers, and the media. For the most part the grounds of Fort Myers is strictly for Republican politicians only, but that is primarily why the city was chosen by the Obama administration to win the hearts of most of all Americans early. It’s believed that if most of the citizens of the town were to support the bill to bring at most $827 billion dollars into the economy, that it can ultimately be signed into law by the President.

That isn’t the only place that Barack Obama will tour, he plans to visit local neighborhoods that were hit hard with the global economic recession, and many of the homes are empty and already foreclosed on. Fort Myers is just one of the many cities in America who are experiencing tough times, unemployment of the city has risen to at least ten percent in this year alone, that’s up from six percent in 2008.

The once booming economic times of the past years are far from over, most of the local citizens are mounting debt with no way out but bankruptcy, just one of the many reasons that has caused the down turn of the global economy to begin with.

The President’s trip will supposedly bring several thousand of dollars into the local economy; you can expect a pretty large crowd gathering to see the new and favored President, with that you can expect the citizens and visitors to purchase the necessities; such as gas and food.

But the hope to change the country is what the citizens of Fort Myers are gathering early to see, the anticipation, frustrations, joy, and even tears of those local citizens will be on display Tuesday for the arrival of Barack Obama.
