The newly arrived American President Barack Obama has greeted lawmakers with open arms for reaching an agreement on the economic stimulus package. The stimulus package is due to go onto the Senate on Sunday or Monday for a vote.

President Obama has already forewarned lawmakers and American people that a rapid response is needed to avoid an economic meltdown. Unemployment has already reached an all time high in since 1974. Unemployment claims rose to 626,000, the highest it has reached in a single month since 1982.

Obama has gracefully entered office with all of the weight on his shoulders, with the American people out of work and unemployment clams rising each day; most lawmakers feel that action is needed swiftly.

The package in which the President proposed is significantly less than the original proposal of $940 billion dollars. United State Senators reached a tentative deal on a $740 billion stimulus package on late Friday. The agreement has settled uneasy for some after the President stated that he’s grown impatient with the United State Senate.

A huge amount of critics to the package such as former Presidential nominee John McCain look down on the package. Most of the negative remarks state that the plan contains millions of dollars of unnecessary spending.

Experts have reported that Obama has lost the battle of most Republican support. The President seeking to gain bipartisanship support only expects a handful of Republican Senators for support the stimulus package. Those efforts by President Obama fall short of expectation after his main campaign for change isn’t living up to its promise.

With the package still on the table, many Obama supporters fear that the agreement still may not actually pass the Senate. The opposition to the bill feels as though the Presidents stimulus package will not put the money where it is supposed to go.

The belief that lawmakers should be held accountable for their mistakes and fail to react to the proposed bill only irks the Senate just further. Those close to the President have stated that he plans to do everything within his power to have things moving along quickly as possible.

Gaining Senate support and American citizen support is an entire different playing field. President Obama plans to hit the road once again in support of the bill, yes campaign style. Barack Obama will hold multiple town hall meetings in Indiana, and Florida on Monday, February 9, 2009 and Tuesday, February 10, 2009.

Critics to the President believe that it’s just another shot in the dark from the President, but others have gained trust and respect for President Obama for his work ethic.
